ZA47 Stourbridge, 21.8.2007: "Previous Reviews are Accurate" We recently finished a few weeks travelling around Central Europe and this hotel among all the others (3,4 & 5 star) stood out for a variety of reasons. The town itself is fabulous with amazing buildings throughout (don’t forget to look up!) but the reception we received at this hotel was warm and welcoming - the owner spoke perfect English, as did many of the staff, and really went to exceptional lengths to ensure everything was perfect.
We stayed in one of the apartments (top floor - lift to second floor and short flight of stairs to apartments) and even after viewing the photos on their website we were surprised by the enormous space we had. We had a twin bedroom, large living room/kitchen and a ‘very large’ double room, plus seperate Toilet and Bathroom.
The restaurant downstairs has excellent, reasonably priced food and very good service.
The town is less than an hours drive from the Tatra Mountain resorts and 30 minutes from Slovensky Raj National Park both areas of exceptional beauty and fabulous walking so makes a perfect base for these areas as well as the surrounding countryside with its castles and churches.
I am aware I have used a lot of superlatives here in describing this hotel and town but the Hotel U Leva stood head and shoulders above many higher ranked hotels and is one we would genuinely go back to.
The downside? – Please can someone oil the weather vane on the town hall!.
DW07 Berlin, 7.8.2007: "Relaxing place" Hotel U Leva is very clean and quiet and reasonably priced. It's centrally located in Levoca and within short walking distance of a few pubs. The town itself is tidy and the mountain air is good for sleeping. The restaurant attached to the hotel is excellent with relatively low prices. Highly recommended..
McGuffin, Amsterdam 7.8.2007:"Spotlessly clean and up to date." Very clean, newly-renovated hotel in the center of this picturesque mountain town.
The staff speak English and are very helpful and friendly. They have wireless and wired internet and happily supply cables for the latter. Parking is out of sight at the rear, and is secure.
The restaurant is also up to a high standard with many local specialties on the menu and good Czech beer on draught.
Very highly recommended and excellent value for money. cenu.
Simon Whelan, UK, 15. 11. 2006: "Great little hotel": This hotel is a great place for the ridiculously low price of £29 a night. Our room was in the attic, with a bathroom below and an airy bedroom with skylight above. We had a good view of the town and hills above the rooftops. The room was very clean, light, immaculately (and recently) decorated, with a comfy bed and brand new bathroom - you can almost still smell the grout drying. There is a lift too.
Breakfast is good, but not the 'eat as much as you like type'. You order with the waiter. It is filling and tasty. The resatuant also does nice food in the evening.
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and can assist you with booking trips or giving advice about the area. They were very helpful with our trip to Slovensky Raj.
You couldn't be closer to the centre of town.
crazymatio, Krakow 27.3.2007: "The Hotel U Leva : A Great Addition in Levoca.": Levoca is one of those little gems many people missed because they spent time in larger, more famous cities. Small, yet packed with charm, the city remains unspoiled by mass tourism. It is also blessed with a number of excellent hotels that rival any others in Central Europe. Among the newest and finest in an already competitive market is the Hotel U Leva. The owner, the amiable Vladimir Petroci has spared no expense in his tasteful and luxurious renovation of this wonderful centuries old townhouse on the main square.
The rooms are huge and beautifully appointed. Many over look the picturesque and historic Town Hall and all come with minibar, satellite tv with CNN, BBC as well as many other foreign channels. The staff is warm and helpful and eager to please.
Another huge plus is the hotel restaurant. Having visited Levoca no less than 10 times over the years I can say that you will NOT find a better meal in town. The menu offers one of the best steaks I have had in Central Europe as well as a number of lighter pasta dishes which come as a welcome relief from the sometimes heavy (though tasty) Slovakian cuisine. A number of excellent local wines are available by the glass or bottle. White wines of this quality would cost 3or 4 times the price in Western Europe.. Order with impunity and be amazed at how forgiving the bill is on your pocket book.
Save room for the wonderful deserts and a slivowitz and coffee.
Levoca is one of those bucolic places that will not remain undiscovered for long. If you looking for a quiet, romantic
getaway in a lovely part of Europe look no further than Levoca with its beautiful rolling hills , quiet charm and great hotels.
